Summary

Unoffendable, now revised and updated with two new chapters, gives you a concrete, practical way to live life with less stress。 In our easily offended, cancel-culture society, learn how to replace perpetual frustration and anger with refreshing humility and gratitude。

It turns out giving up your "right" to be offended can be one of the most freeing, healthy, simplifying, relaxing, refreshing, stress-relieving, encouraging things you can do。 It's a radical, provocative idea: We're not entitled to get offended or stay angry。 The idea of our own "righteous anger" is a myth。 It is the number one problem in our societies today and, as Dallas Willard says, Christians have not been taught out of it。 But what if Christians were the most unoffendable people on the planet?

In Unoffendable you will find concrete, practical ways to live life with less stress, including:

Adjusting your expectations to fit human nature
Replacing perpetual anger with refreshing humility and gratitude
Embracing forgiveness and beginning to love others in unexpected ways
Newly revised with two brand-new chapters on forgiveness and what Hansen has learned since writing his original book, this updated edition of the bestselling book is a must-read for every Christian。 In a humorous and conversational style, Unoffendable seeks to lift religious burdens from our backs and allow us to experience the joy of gratitude, perhaps for the first time, every single day of our lives—flourishing the way God intended。

Highly Recommend! Not only did I learn a lot, but I think I laughed out loud in every chapter。 Filled with real life stories and a very compelling (and I'm convinced Biblical) concept - of not being entitled to anger or being offended。Favorite excerpt from the book: "Yes, the world is broken。 But don't be offended by it。 Instead, thank God that He has intervened in it and He is going to restore it to everything it was meant to be。 His Kingdom is breaking through, bit by bit。 Recognize it, and wo Highly Recommend! Just expect it。 No big deal。 Let it drop, and then be thankful for the person, the exceptional person, who lets you merge。 See the human heart for what it is, adjust expectations, and be grateful, not angry。 When you see, in the midst of all this mess, beautiful glimpses of God's kingdom, defined by love, breathe it in。 For now, grace is the exception, and it's a beautiful one。" (page 40-41) 。。。more

This book was a huge encouragement to me to give up any right I feel to be angry about a situation and experience true freedom of forgiveness instead of the weight of anger。

As simple as it sounds it's actually quite difficult to do。 To be unoffendable, you must adjust your expectations of human nature, learn to love all, and realize that you're just as bad as the person you're offended by。It can definitely be hard but we don't have a right to hold on to our anger。 We were forgiven so we should forgive。 This world justifies anger and tells us we need it, spoiler alert, we don't。 We have to let go and move on, it can lead to a much happier and loving life。 As simple as it sounds it's actually quite difficult to do。 To be unoffendable, you must adjust your expectations of human nature, learn to love all, and realize that you're just as bad as the person you're offended by。It can definitely be hard but we don't have a right to hold on to our anger。 We were forgiven so we should forgive。 This world justifies anger and tells us we need it, spoiler alert, we don't。 We have to let go and move on, it can lead to a much happier and loving life。 。。。more

This book teaches and talks about how to be unoffendable and to surrender anger and be humble。 To give God control and to trust that He knows the big picture and is in control in the bad situations that happen to us。 That we are not entitled to our anger, God is entitled to anger and revenge but are not。That we need to love all people and tell them the good news and try not to be offended by what they say to us and be kind to them even though they say offensive things that we need to not get off This book teaches and talks about how to be unoffendable and to surrender anger and be humble。 To give God control and to trust that He knows the big picture and is in control in the bad situations that happen to us。 That we are not entitled to our anger, God is entitled to anger and revenge but are not。That we need to love all people and tell them the good news and try not to be offended by what they say to us and be kind to them even though they say offensive things that we need to not get offended and take it all so personal and get angry with them, because really Jesus loves them just as much as He loves us, and we are no better than them。This is really a very interesting thing, because in our world so many times we justify our anger and say we need it, we don't need it。 We need to be unoffendable not get angry with them and love them。 And that can lead to a very joyful life。 。。。more

Brant Hansen gives us a lighthearted and funny, but deadly serious instruction on getting out of your own way to walk in the way of Jesus。 Written in 2015, it’s only getting more relevant as society drifts farther and farther into hyper-offend-able self fixation。 This was very engaging and very helpful。 I’ll be rereading annually。

This is such a convicting and challenging book。 It made me want to be more like Jesus which is the highest compliment I could give。 Strongly recommend this book。

“The church is not made up of natural friends, it’s made up of natural enemies。”Whew, get ready for some stomped toes。 This was a really good read with a good reminder of where our perspective needs to be。 When we live our lives in joy and gratitude of all that’s been forgiven of us, it’s a whole lot harder to keep a constant score of all the wrongs done against us。 We are all just as sinful and lost as our fellow brothers。 It’s time we let go of the nitpicking and constant judgement and focus i “The church is not made up of natural friends, it’s made up of natural enemies。”Whew, get ready for some stomped toes。 This was a really good read with a good reminder of where our perspective needs to be。 When we live our lives in joy and gratitude of all that’s been forgiven of us, it’s a whole lot harder to keep a constant score of all the wrongs done against us。 We are all just as sinful and lost as our fellow brothers。 It’s time we let go of the nitpicking and constant judgement and focus instead on the grace we ourselves have been given! 。。。more

I agree with another reviewer who said: “Do we have a right to be angry? I loved this book! This type of practical application of Jesus' teaching is as inspiring as it is counter-cultural。 In a world where everyone is quick to get angry, Brant reminds us that Jesus calls us to a different way of living。 We can love without taking things personally。 I wish I could map out the different ideas he went through to give you a better idea of what you'll find between the pages, but I was listening to it on audio。 What a remember about the experience is how I felt。 I felt cha I loved this book! I don’t love Brant’s writing style (a little too causal), but he doesn’t claim to be an academic。 However, he puts forth ideas that are incredibly useful for Christians in this time and gives anecdotal stories that help those ideas stick。 It’s not a hard read, but dealing with the truth about some of the things he says may be hard。 He didn’t sell me 100% on anger always being wrong, but I think I moved a lot closer to him than I was before。 I have been wrestling with my own selfish anger for som I don’t love Brant’s writing style (a little too causal), but he doesn’t claim to be an academic。 However, he puts forth ideas that are incredibly useful for Christians in this time and gives anecdotal stories that help those ideas stick。 It’s not a hard read, but dealing with the truth about some of the things he says may be hard。 He didn’t sell me 100% on anger always being wrong, but I think I moved a lot closer to him than I was before。 I have been wrestling with my own selfish anger for some time, seeing it for what it really is, and this book helped me think through those ideas better and will give me a kick in the pants to develop better thinking about it and better habits going forward。 。。。more

This has to be one of the best books about living a Christian life that I've ever read。 I plan to read it again and again to let it sink in deeply! The author is so open and honest making him very relatable! Not an easy concept to apply, but it will be well worth it! The concept is great。 I love the principle he's addressing here, but his writing style was difficult for me to follow。 He's very fast-paced, and that can come across sometimes as wandering。 I wish the chapter titles gave some insight to the facet of offense/being unoffendable that he would address, instead of a super random tidbit that doesn't have any real bearing on the content of the chapter。 I found myself wondering where he was going, and often how we ended up in a certain conversation。 Ove The concept is great。 I love the principle he's addressing here, but his writing style was difficult for me to follow。 He's very fast-paced, and that can come across sometimes as wandering。 I wish the chapter titles gave some insight to the facet of offense/being unoffendable that he would address, instead of a super random tidbit that doesn't have any real bearing on the content of the chapter。 I found myself wondering where he was going, and often how we ended up in a certain conversation。 Overall, the premise is excellent, but the execution is a bit of a miss in my opinion。 。。。more

Excellent。 Brant was on a podcast recently。 After hearing him there, I couldn’t wait to read his book。 I love Brant’s writing style and perspective。 He takes what society has made into complex concepts like anger and simplifies it。 I had many lightbulb moments reading this。 The book eventually moves on to other related topics as well。 Also, Brant is funny and direct and super honest about himself which helps moves this book’s pace along。 Highly recommend!

interesting I find the book interesting and challenging。 Thank you for putting this out。 I enjoyed it and I will recommend it to others。

I really enjoyed this book- it was funny, easy to read, relatable, and full of great truth and insights。“Once you’ve decided you can’t control other people; once you’ve reconciled yourself to the fact that the world, and its people, are broken; once you’ve realized your own moral failure before God; once you’ve abandoned the idea that your significance comes from anything other than God, you’re growing in humility, and that’s exactly where God wants us all。”

Holly Conradt

good message despite the oversimplified examples and poor writing。

Simple。 True。 Potentially life-changing。 The title is Unoffendable but could have also been aptly named “un-anger-able”。 No one wins when we act out of anger/outrage/offense。 Anger can motivate for a while but it eventually burns everything up including yourself。 Better to act out of love。

James Evans

An easy and enjoyable book to read with some excellent and practical matters to employ in everyday life。 It has caused me to already strive to be more unoffendable in my daily life。 I was not sure what to expect in the writing, but found the content valuable and the writing style a pleasure。

I love his quirky personality。 I really enjoyed his blessed are the misfit book as well I think he’s definitely on to something regarding being “unoffendable”。 Appreciate Brants biblical insight。

Some great nuggets here and an easy read that has plenty to think about: Being offended wears you out。Letting go gives you energy。Being offended is more about me than the other person and hurts me the most too。Letting go of the need or right to be offended is freeing。 Maybe we can just try to love people as they are without judging them or trying to get them to change。
